However, if you are not a property owner, you are going to want to ask permission before building your deer tree stand. Just to be safe, you may want to obtain a permission statement if you are using someone else’s property.

Location, Location, Location

Deer Stand PlansWhen you get permission to build your deer stand, you are going to want to find the best location that is sturdy and bare your weight. This is what you should look for in the perfect location for a deer stand:

  • Heavily wooded area: You want to make sure you are following all the hunting laws and not firing into open residential areas, so the best locations are going to be in heavily wooded areas.
  • High deer population: To get the most from your deer stand you are going to want to choose a location where deer are likely to be, if not, you could spend hours wasted in the woods.
  • Multiple trees: This could be the most difficult part of finding a location. In order to build a sturdy tree stand to hold your weight, you are going to need three trees that are close together.

Gaining Access

The first step of this simple deer stand plan is to build entry way to the deer stand. This step is simple.

  • Your location required three threes close together. You are going to need multiple 2×4 boards for this part.
  • Starting towards the bottom of the two trees, nail a 2×4 board to both of them like a prong.
  • Repeat this step going all the way up the tree, forming a ladder to where the surface of your tree stand is going to be.

Building The Platform

Once you have created your ladder for access, you want to build your base of the tree stand.

  • Using 2x4s, you want to build the support boards running from each tree, make sure you fasten these boards with sturdy nails.
  • Once you have a base frame, you want to fill in the frame with more 2×4 frames, running up and down along the frame.
  • Once you have used enough 2x4s to create a sturdy frame, double check to make sure all of the boards are properly nailed down.

In these two steps, you have created a basic tree stand. Some people will even take the next step by adding a swiveling chair to the stand for comfort and easy hunting. These simple deer stand plans will assist you in preparing for this hunting season.
